So a few of you may have seen my new tutorial on the Tranquil Tides blanket pattern. I thought I’d share the baby blanket pattern here for you all. If you’d like the pattern for the other sizes you can purchase the pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.
Like my other blanket patterns, this blanket pattern is nice and easy but looks so beautiful!
You will need:
- 5mm Crochet hook
- Stylecraft special Aran – Mightnight
- Stylecraft special Aran – Cream
- Stylecraft special Aran – Teal
- Large eye yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
Using the same stitch as the blanket calls for.
4 inches by 4 inches = 13 stitches by 11 rows
Abbreviations:
CH – Chain
ST – Stitch
SL ST- Slip stitch
SC – Single crochet
HDC – Half Double crochet
FPDC – Front Post Double crochet
*-* repeat what is inside the stars.
Pattern:
Starting with cream chain 126
R1: Put 1 hdc into the second chain from the hook and into each st across. Ch 1 and turn (ch 1 does not count as the first st) (125 sts)
R2-3: Ch 1 and turn (ch 1 does not count as the first st), 1 hdc into each st across. (125 sts)
Change yarn colour to Midnight.
R4: Ch 1 and turn (ch 1 does not count as the first st). 1 sc into the first st, now working around the second and third hdc’s on row 2, make 1 FPDC. Sk 1 st on row 4 and work 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts.
*Sk 1 st on row 2 and work 1 FPDC around the next 2 hdc’s to combine them, sk 1 st on row 4 and put 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts.* repeat to the end of the row.
R5-7: Ch 1 and turn (ch 1 does not count as the first st), 1 hdc into each st across.
Change colour to Teal.
R8: Ch 1 and turn (ch 1 does not count as the first st). 1 sc into the first st (the current row), now working around the second and third hdc’s, 2 rows below (This will be known as the FPDC row), make 1 FPDC. Sk 1 st on the current row and work 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts.
*Sk 1 st on the FPDC row and work 1 FPDC around the next 2 hdc’s to combine them, sk 1 st on the current row and put 1 sc into each of the next 2 sts.* repeat to the end of the row.
Repeat rows 5-8 until you have reached the number of rows needed for your blanket. (Check the chart above for the number of rows you need to complete) Remember to keep alternating the colours when you start the row 8 repeat.
Complete a total of 100 rows for the baby blanket.
